Full distance (North) of the old Great North Road for both routes Alconbury to Norman Cross

The Medium route is 40 miles & only 1250ft climbing; Heading  out via Barnwell and Thurning down to the Alconbury area its then a quick blast up Alconbury Hill before dropping onto the long straights North of the old A1 road. “The A1 TT” can be brutal into the wind so make sure you don’t have a strong Northerly wind to test you further. The return is through Haddon and Warmington and round the lakes through Fotheringhay.

The Long route is 57 miles & 2000ft climbing; The Long route splits off at end of the Clopton drag and can be ridden in any direction, if the westerly wind is up then its best done clockwise, this also gives you a drop down Belton Hill rather than the cliff of a climb The loops most Southerly point is Kimbolton.
